About Aluminum Capping

Capping both looks great and protects wood from rot. I take great care that my capping is installed to last. 

THICKNESS

I use heavy gauge material. The most commonly sold (and used) capping material in Edmonton is regular gauge, by far. I only use the thickest, highest quality material available. The only exception is when a manufacturer no longer supplies the customers colour choice in the thickest material - in which case you will be advised prior to installation.

STYLE

Capping comes in both Smooth and Embossed (textured woodgrain). I recommend Woodgrain especially for posts or beams but can be used anywhere.

SEALANT

I use a very high quality caulk. It doesn't dry out, harden, or crack. It does get dirty like any sealant, but it outlasts all other brands.   If there comes a time that it needs to be removed for some reason, it can be pulled away easily leaving no caulking behind. This stuff is great.
