Windows

Crank Out Windows. If you have crank out windows, the way I cap is:

  • I remove the crank outs and the tracks,

  • Cap both the frame and the crank out,

  • Reinstall the tracks and the capped crank out

All wood on the outside will be capped. My opinion is: “If you have to paint parts of the window on the outside, why are we capping at all?” Therefore there are some windows I cannot cap. For example wood windows which are sliders. I usually can cap parts of it, but if I can’t cap the whole thing I recommend to not do it at all. Of course there are always exceptions so we can discuss options.
